In 1985, a District was formed by the vote of the people when the first property tax levy passed. In 1990, The Ambulance District entered into a contract for management with the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. In 1998, the District's Board of Directors elected to regain control and House 1 was built. In 2006, a sales tax proposal of 1/2 of 1 cent passed allowing for expansion of staff and houses. House 2 in Bloomsdale and House 3 in Weingarten were added in 2008.
